China Hotels
The hotel industry in China has been greatly developed in recent years, as China grows in popularity as a major destination for tourism and business. As of December 2005, China completed the opening of its hotels market to international competition and development. International chain hotels are popping up across China, and domestic Chinese hotels are developing and upgrading their standards to compete. Overall, this means a higher hotels standard for the traveller in China with certain expected amenities like internet access having become more commonplace.
China hotels standards are measured by a 5 star system overseen by the China National Tourism Administration. Generally, 1 and 2 star hotels have only the basic facilities but should be clean. 3 star hotels must have air conditioning, color TV, refrigerator, telephone, double curtains, private bathroom, 24 hour hot water, and internet access ( except in remote areas ). 3 star hotels should also have restaurants, bars, banquet/conference facilities, and laundry services. 4 and 5 star hotels will have large rooms with adequate soundproofing, spacious lobbies, business centers, round the clock room service and high quality Chinese and western cuisine. China's 5 star hotels offer the expected world class luxury and decadence.
