Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) |
Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) is located in Shanghai’s Pudong district 30 kilometers (19 miles) to the east of Shanghai city center and 40 kilometers from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. As a major international airport and important entry point into China for the World, Shanghai Pudong International is the main hub for China Eastern Airlines and Shanghai Airlines and a major international hub for Air China.
With an average aircraft movement of over 400 per day, around 60% of all Shanghai flights, Shanghai Pudong serves around 50 domestic and foreign airlines and connects over 90 international and 60 domestic destinations. It has 2 terminals and 3 runways (the 3rd runway and 2nd terminal building were put into operation in 2008) and can operate around the clock according to demand.
The airport has modern service facilities including banks, ATMs, currency exchanges, a post office, luggage storage, business center, and internet cafe. There are also several restaurants and duty free shops.
Public ground transportation includes taxi, shuttle bus, long distance bus, rail, and the famed Maglev. The Maglev train runs between the airport and the Shanghai metro, which takes just 8 minutes and costs 50RMB. Taxis are more convenient and a bit more expensive, taking around 1 hour to get to downtown Shanghai.

Airport facilities include ATMs, currency exchange, post office, duty-free shops, dining, bars, information counter, business center, baggage storage, and a shopping mall just outside the entrance to the airport.
Transportation options to get to downtown Shanghai or other final destination include a taxi station located on the arrivals level and a public bus service with frequent routes to many destinations throughout Shanghai.
