Shenzhen Baoan International Airport is located 35 km (22 miles) from downtown Shenzhen. It is the 4th biggest airport in China, with flights operated to over 80 Chinese and international cities. Its proximity to Hong Kong makes it an often cheaper alternative to Hong Kong Airport: passengers arriving from international locations to Hong Kong can easily get to Shenzhen Airport and take a domestic flight from there to their final destination in China.

There are two terminals at Shenzhen Airport; use Terminal A for flights on China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Terminal B for flights on Shenzhen Airlines, Air China, China Eastern, Shandong Airlines, and international flights.

Ground Transportation:

Bus: Public buses run regularly between Shenzhen Airport and downtown Shenzhen. (No. K568, 327, 355, 602, and 651.) Additional lines run to Hong Kong, Dongguan, and Huizhou.

Airport Bus: Airport Bus No. 330 circulates between Shenzhen Airport and Hualian Ticket Center in downtown Shenzhen and costs 20 Yuan. The bus from Hualian Ticket Center to the Airport takes 35 minutes and makes no other stops, running every 20 minutes from 6:20 am until 8:20 pm. The bus from the airport to Hualian Ticket Center runs every 20 minutes from 7:30 am until the last flight arrival and goes through Guangzhou-Shenzhen expressway, Zhuzi Lin Station, and the Investment Building Station. After 7:00 pm, this bus route is extended to include Ludan Village and the West Square of the Railway Station.

Taxi: Taxis are available at designated areas just outside the airport terminals. Red taxis can travel anywhere, including within Shenzhen’s central districts: Futian, Luogang, Yantian, and Nanshan. Green taxis can travel only outside the special economic zone in the districts of Baoan and Longgang. The starting price for red Shenzhen taxis is 12.5 Yuan for the first 3 km, then 2.4 Yuan per km thereafter, with a waiting fee of .8 Yuan per minute. The starting price for green taxis is 7 Yuan for the first 2 km, then 2.4 Yuan per km, with a waiting fee of .8 Yuan. It costs approximately 80 Yuan to get to Shenzhen city center by taxi.

Airport Facilities

Airport facilities and services include ATMs and banking services, dressing rooms, free luggage carts, luggage packing services for 10 Yuan per package, first-aid center, and pharmacy.

There are restaurants and fast food joints serving Chinese or western foods in both terminals including Cuiyuan Restaurant, Window of the World Restaurant, Golden Unicorn Restaurant, McDonald’s, and KFC.

A commercial center in each terminal provides typing, photocopying, checking of small luggage, and a lost and found.
