Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is located around 10 km (6.2 miles) from downtown Xiamen on the northeast tip of Xiamen Island and at the center of the South Fujian Golden Triangle Area. Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport opened in 1983 and has since grown into an important aviation hub in the region. It is today one of the top 10 busiest airports in China with an annual passenger volume exceeding 10 million.

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport services flights to 75 cities, linking Xiamen to the rest of China with 58 domestic flights routes and to international cities and regions (mostly in Asia) with 17 international flights routes. This airport is also the base of Xiamen Airlines.

Ground Transportation

Airport Shuttle Bus: Airport shuttle buses are available to take passengers from the airport to downtown Xiamen. To get to the stop, exit at the arrivals hall and go 50-100 meters to your right. The cost is 6 Yuan per person and tickets can be purchased at counters in the domestic and international arrivals halls.

Taxi: A taxi stand is located outside the arrivals hall. Xiamen taxi fares are 8 Yuan flat rate for the first 3 km and 2 Yuan per km thereafter. A 50% surcharge may be added over 8 km.

Bus: Public bus routes circulate between Xiamen Airport and Xiamen downtown. To get to the airport stop, exit at the arrivals hall and go left for about 200-250 meters. 5 routes go to downtown: Bus number 27 to the Ferry Station, 37 to the Railway station, 41 to Bonded Area, 81 to Lian Hua Er Cun, and 91 to the Exhibition Center. The fare is 1 Yuan and the last bus leaves at around 10:30 pm.

Airport Facilities

Airport facilities include: Free Luggage Carts, Baby Room, Rest Rooms for First Class Passengers, Public Phones (Phone cards are also available for purchase), Business Center providing fax and copying services, Medical Center, Smoking Rooms (No smoking in the terminals except in these designated areas), and Massage Chairs (5 Yuan for 5 Minutes).

Airport services include: Information Counter, Post Office, a Bank of China in the International Departure Terminal providing currency exchange services, ATMs of the following banks: Bank of China, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Everbright Bank, Left Luggage Counter (with costs ranging between 3 and 10 Yuan per day depending on size of the luggage), and Lost Luggage Counter.

Restaurants, cafes, and stores are located throughout the terminals.
